张春继是一个纯粹的油画家，他没有去管油画界的纷争，他只知道画画，而他想画的，又只能是自已想画的东西。
正是因为始终执着于自己的真情实感，使张春继坚持地画他熟悉的绣花鞋。但今天的画家已不太执着于绣花鞋本身了，他似乎是在对绣花鞋进行夸张，变形，解构、抽象，他在绣花鞋中提炼出形、色、结构、符号，于以重新的组合，使其绣花鞋系列呈现出全新的面目。
他的绣花鞋被拉长了，还变成了他所谓的双头绣花鞋，绣花鞋有时被截断，有时被剪切、剖开，张春继在中国传统绘画窄长的立轴式构图中布置这些绣花鞋。绣花鞋的美丽的纹饰还在，绣花鞋闪光的迷幻式的鲜艳色彩还在，绣花鞋已拆散成点、线、面，已幻化成五彩斑烂珠光宝气般的亮丽色彩，已转化为复杂多变的白族几何形抽象纹饰

Zhang Chunji is a pure painter as he never pays attention to the dispute about oil paintings. He only draws what he wants to draw.
Zhang Chunji is always insists on expressing his true feelings so he draws embroidered shoes consistently. However, he does not pay much attention to embroidered shoes themselves, he seems to exaggerate, transfigure and abstract the embroidered shoes. He brings embroidered shoes new life by abstracting shape, color, structure and symbol from embroidered shoes and reset those.
The embroidered shoes in his works are elongated and with two heads. Sometimes the embroidered shoes are cut off and sometimes are cut open. He arranges those embroidered shoes in the Chinese-style narrow and long picture. He remains the beautiful ornaments and the vivid colors of embroidered shoes. But the embroidered shoes are broken up into dots, lines and faces and become multicolored, changeful and nonfigurative.
